How much is my number plate worth?
Please note: We do not give valuations on the telephone or otherwise as this is a completely free sales service.
The key to selling your plate in a reasonable time is to be realistic with the price and not to over-value it. Just take a look at similar number plates on our sales lists to get an idea of current market values.
Buyers will often make offers if they like your registration mark but cannot afford your asking price. We will contact you should this be the case.
How much will you add on to my price?
Our pricing structure is transparent. Our unique business model means that we can honestly display your asking price and make a small charge to the buyer for providing our expertise to ensure successful completion of the transfer and our guarantees.
Unlike other organisations, we will not charge you to list and sell your registration mark provided you act in an honest and timely manner throughout the sales process.
Advertised price
The price that will be displayed in our search results is your asking price plus a small cash handling fee. When the buyer clicks to view your registration mark they will be presented with a full breakdown of costs involved including the Department of Transport transfer fee and a fee for our Assured Transfer Administration service.
Department of Transport transfer fee
This fee is the DVLA or DVLA NI charge for changing the details of the vehicle(s) involved in the transfer and producing all new documents including V5, MOT and Tax discs. The fee will vary depending on the status of the registration mark and the purchaser’s requirements.
VRM Assured Transfer Administration Fee
Our Assured Transfer Service ensures a secure, speedy transfer with an expert handling your paperwork at the DVLA Vehicle office here in Swansea. Your documents and information will only ever be seen by VRM Swansea and Government staff. The buyer’s payment is held securely by VRM Swansea from the point that an order is taken until the transfer is complete. At which time, payment will be made by means of a cheque.
How long will it take to get a buyer?
We cannot give you an honest answer to this question.
We make no promises other than:
- Your plate will be advertised for free until it's sold.
- We will use our very best endeavours to secure a sale as soon as possible.
- You will pay no sales commission to us
- We will contact you as soon as any offer is made.
- We will conduct the entire transfer for you when your buyer is found.
- You will receive your funds as soon as the transfer is complete.
How is it a free service?
Our fees are paid for entirely by the buyer. We believe that these fees are reasonable considering the amount of work involved and the guarantee that we offer. As we believe these fees are fair we have no problem being completely honest about displaying them.
Can I sell my registration privately?
You can also choose to list your registration mark privately and then request that we get involved once a buyer has been found, therefore offering you the insurance of having a qualified, expert team involved in the deal.
We do not recommend that you complete the full transfer on a private sale basis because the way in which the government transfer scheme works leaves room for either the seller or the buyer of a registration mark to be a victim of fraud if an intermediary party is not involved.
